Will the Focus RS get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay?

Ford just announced that all model-year 2017 vehicles will be available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as part of Fords growing Sync infotainment platform.

Ford says they will first offer CarPlay and Android Auto on the upcoming 2017 Escape, set to debut sometime this spring.

However, owners of 2016 models equipped with Sync 3 will be eligible for an upgrade later this year.

“Sync allows customers to bring the smartphone technology they’re comfortable with into a vehicle and use it without hassle,” Don Butler, executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services for Ford, said in a statement.

This brings us to the Focus RS. As far as we know despite its spring on-sale date like the 2017 Escape, Ford will roll out the RS as a 2016 model. Meaning owners could have to wait until later in the year for full-on smartphone integration if the car doesn't ship with the software.

Even if the Focus RS is coming out as a 2016 model, it should still be equipped with Sync 3 which is compatible with the 2017 upgrade. The question is, will Ford cover the upgrade cost?

Yep. Either it updates automatically with wifi for Android, or you have to go in to dealer for hardware for Apple CarPlay.
It is part of Sync 3.

There is no upgrade cost. Sync 3 allows for OTA updates now because it includes 4G LTE

AA and CP are both software that can be beamed OTA to Sync 3 vehicles thanks to 4G LTE...

where did you hear one needed hardware?
Although not officially disclosed

Although not officially disclosed, based on estimates, it is one of the most developmentally expensive games ever made. The game had one million subscribers within three days of its launch, making it the world's "fastest-growing MMO ever", though in the following months the game lost a fair share of its subscriptions. The game Swtor Credits US is no longer subscription only and has a free-to-play option. The game was met with positive reception upon release and has received several updates and expansion packs. Several books and comics based on the game have been released. It is estimated that the game made $139 million in additional revenues, in addition to the subscription income, in 2013 http://www.swtorfast.com/
My dealership told me that CarPlay required a change to deliver more amperage to the USB ports, hence the need to bring it in.
You need the module I paid $215 at the dealer and they installed it. Heads up when using car play or android play the sync voice commands will not work.
My car has wired Carplay. Last month I got a carlinkit 4.0 to get wireless carplay and wireless Android auto. Quick connection, easy to operate. Highly recommended.
