Ford of Europe has announced a delightful little factoid today, in the UK alone they have received 1500 orders for the MK3 Focus RS!

But it gets better, just over 500 orders were received before pricing and specs were announced (officially) at the Frankfurt show in September.

Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, tells that the majority of orders are from existing RS owners.

“These enthusiasts are taking great care in building their optimum specification. We expected those first in the queue to be exacting about their requirements, and so it has proved, with many opting for motorsport-style Recaro shell front seats, 19in black forged alloy wheels, Luxury pack, electric tilt/side sunroof and Ford SYNC2 navigation and sound system.”

Expected, there's just no way that a current RS owner or just someone who's not but still very passionate about this one AND with the coin and credit to pass up on this golden opportunity.

Can't wait to see what numbers for the U.S. are going to be like.

The Focus RS is only being created in limited quantities. Only so many people are going to be able to get one, and if orders are this intense out the gate, I think its going to be extremely competitive to actually get a Focus RS. How many Focus RSs are allocated to the UK?

It will but there's a chance that Ford might up production numbers and keep it in line with demand till demand is at a point that cutting production makes real sense.

That would be nice of them. it is starting to make me nervous. I don't want to have to pay a huge premium or just not get one because I din't act quite fast enough and they are all gone.

Well it just depends on what you want to do. Some people don't want to wait forever and also want to ensure they do get their hands on one, others don't want it nearly as bad. I rather pay the extra and enjoy it.

The UK orders for the next year seems to have been filled already. Probably going to be a scramble for one in other countries too. Long wait times ahead of us.

If that's the case then it could be what influences Ford to start talking about if they will push numbers higher than they were set before, only thing is there's no telling when we can hear about that.. might not happen this year, maybe early next year?

Chances are some of those who ordered are actively on Focus/Focus RS forums for past gen's, that's where we'll find them, probably one of the key places they're at.

I'm one of the 500 who placed a deposit before the pricing and specs were announced. The dealership contacted me 5 weeks ago to finalise all the options. Ford UK have contacted me to confirm my order is placed so now it's just a waiting game. I was also one of the lucky ones to get the car at the reduced price. All orders placed before the price increase to £29950 are protected
