Lets shame those dealers out to game a couple extra grand over the RS MSRP...

I doub't anyone is dishing hard numbers yet, but there have been rumblings of dealers hinting at markups...

Whats everyone been hearing from their sales people?

I've had two dealers say they will mark up indirectly and one day they will order and sell at MSRP...that's out of 5 local dealerships I've emailed and have responded by email. The other two are probably the knuckleheads that call 2-3 times a day and I press ignore.
Three have already said to me absolutely... some dealers are looking to create a bidding war of sorts...
So how much of a mark-up are we talking? I assume a few thousand? Definitely under $3,000.

$5,000-$10,000 mark-up for the first few would not be out of the realm of possibility. I realize that sounds harsh but realize the first few vehicles out of most dealership's are typically purchased by business looking to develop or test fit aftermarket products on the USDM release. I have heard from some inside sources that there will more than likely be very few of these car's that are not custom ordered.

Availability will be scarce.
I wouldn't be willing to pay over $3000, i rather wait at that point but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some charging upwards of $5000!
For those who are not in a hurry to purchase one this tactic wouldn't work. I can't see myself paying a few thousand more just to be the first one to get a Focus RS.

The fear of having to wait who knows how long to get one once a specific batch is out and claimed is what could make people want to get in now than to be sitting on the sidelines.

Over $5,000? That is crazy. I did not think that it would go up quite that high. I think since the RX is only going to be out in limited numbers, charging a premium since people really want one of the only ones that are out there makes sense from their perspective.

but thats exactly the attitude that allows dealers to mark up. The minute one or two people pay more then MSRP it sets a precedent...

It's a prisoner's dilemma. It would be best if no one consented to a marked up price. So if everyone does that then we are all better off. However, if one person decides to go for the higher price, then they get the RS and the others who refused the mark up do not.

I just love game theory.
