very interesting. I still wish we got the 2door version from 09 and 10 here in the states.
Sucks that in the U.S. these are rarely seen. Now you best chances of seeing one is at a cars and coffee meet.
Anyone know exactly why Ford didn't release a new RS model at all between '93 and 2002?

That was an era of performance malaise for Ford IMO. Ford regained focus on performance in the oughts. And then we had the first Focus RS.
Even with other car makers, throughout those years performance vehicles weren't happening to the effect they are today.
They must have been following the market though. I bet that demand wasn't there or else they would have built models to fill that demand. They did build the Mustang though.
That might be the case.

Sometimes timing is everything and clearly now people are buying performance cars more than ever.
Are there any other vehicles that are poised to get the RS treatment?
Heck, their entire lineup could get RS treatment.
Escape RS, Explorer RS..

Do you really think that they are going to do it with all of them? And even if they are, which ones would they prioritize to do first?
Mustang got the GT treatment. (Coupe)
Focus will be getting the RS. (Eco hatch segment)
Taurus already has SHO. (Mid size sedan seg)
F150 will get the Raptor. (Pickup truck)

I strongly believe sooner or later there will be an SUV variant.

I think an Explorer RS would be a fitting competitor to the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.
