I am VERY new to this Forum, so pardon my ignorance in possibly posting to this location. Yesterday I received a letter from Ford stating that I need to bring in my vehicle for a (possible) new head gasket and/or NEW head! The car is a 2017 with 2300 miles on it (I picked it up in Oct.) I called the dealer and the service adviser stated that he was going to call me but they were starting one gasket replacement today for an earlier purchaser, and he wants to see "how it goes!" That did NOT give me a ton of confidence---not in the dealer: in the CAR! I DO hope that Ford hasn't done something ill advised with this great new model. My 1970s BMW's all had copper head gaskets (2002s) and I hope that maybe Ford will make an upgraded gasket. The letter explained that the gasket would "blow" into the combustion chamber from the water channels, not to the outside, and one would see white smoke and have their coolant levels go down quickly. So far, NOTHING like that has happened to me....yet!
I am guessing that I am not the only recipient of that letter. IS this something to worry about?
