Ford Focus EV Part of Investment in Electrified Vehicles for 2020

At the opposite end of the spectrum from the Focus RS, Ford will be coming out with an updated Ford Focus EV that will debut next year. It will feature DC fast-charging capability and a 100-mile driving range.

It will be part of a $4.5 billion investment into battery research and 13 new electric vehicles over the next five years. Other vehicles to be part of the investment include a Fusion EV and hybrid, a C-Max hybrid and EV, possibly a Lincoln MKZ hybrid and EV, and perhaps a hybrid Escape.

So plenty to look forward to on the "electrified" front from Ford in the future.

Wonder if the Focus EV will look similar to the RS or if ford will tone down the sporty design to make it a more family orientated hatchback.
Might have some styling changes to emphasize the Ev-ness of it.
We may not see performance EV vehicles from Ford like the RS for a long while since the deadline for renewed Environmental Protection Agency standards is the 2025 model year. Plenty of time for them to develop a performance electric car like the Model S.

You bet it will, other car makers have done it for a very good reason, and there's no reason why Ford wouldn't want to do it on a high volume product.
I would like to see more sporty looking pure electric cars because right now people don't have a lot of options except for Tesla in that department.
I mean Tesla doesn't even make the roadster any more. There is definitely fertile ground to be cultivated.
We have performance plug in hybrids but nothing for those who want to go pure electric. Tesla's roadster had great specs and hopefully, Ford can come out with something to fill in this niche.
this is very nice car in the world.

i heard they have a successor to the roadster in the works, but some people are even going for the Tesla X for their performance fix all while getting what they wanted in a practical vehicle. Seen this from those with money to buy a GLA 45 AMG, and the like.

They're coming out with another one apparently.

But I do think that's a reason they're not as popular. Don't get me wrong, the EV world is growing. But I think if they made them look a lot more appealing and not like futuristic, spaceship, line-less eggs... they may appeal to more people ? :|
That's what i heard about as well. Probably to follow after they get a few high volume products out. The Model 3 and a compact utility vehicle should set them up with the funds to go back to a smaller volume but fun segment.
For sure. I think that's what this market really needs to appeal to the higher-end masses. Something very exotic looking, that doesn't cost a quarter million dollars. Fast, Agile, possibly $120k range
