I like both so I can't really say until I get some more first hand experience with both. I agree on the original spoiler, but I can understand why they changed it.
They both look very similar shape. Like said above, I can't say which one I would choose for sure, but when both the RS and Type-R are available to test drive I'll know exactly which one I'm getting
I know what you mean and completely agree, but that is part of how Japanese cars are, a bit 'loud' in their design. The smoothness of the design on the Focus is much more pleasing to my eyes.
The Focus RS does have a much smoother exterior design though. After checking out a few more pictures of both the RS and the Type R I'd have to say when it comes to the exterior the RS looks way better. Too much going on with the Type R. Now only to wait and see how the engines and suspensions perform
Definitely the RS for me, first because it reminds me so much of my old Focus, which was also painted Weird Blue (the electric blue that had shades of purple in it and made it the ugliest car in the morning and the most gorgeous thing on the road in the evening). Second, well, they've just nailed it so hard haven't they? Ok so I'm 40, I don't want a car that screams "look at meeeee! I go 'broooooom!'". I want a car that policemen won't look twice at. I want a car that the odd passer-by might glance at and perhaps think "there's something weird about this Focus, but I can't quite put my finger on it". As far as I'm concerned, that design couldn't be closer to what I'd want. The front end just blows me away, it's so well drawn. The rear wing isn't too big, I'm not usually a fan of those, but I could live with that one. But overall, proportions, stance, sharpness - nailed. Hard. That nail is *never* coming out.
I liked the Type R Concept better than the production version, but if its either one I would still choose the Focus RS first. I prefer the slightly more conservative styling of the Focus RS. You can always dress up the vehicle with after market parts if you want to have a vehicle that will stand out even more.
Yeah, I do think however when both of these hot hatches are out, they will both give each other a run for their money. They do have a lot of different exterior traits but they also have a very similar shape.
Can't wait to see a side by side comparison of the two as well as a quarter mile drag.
What I think may harm the Type R with enthusiasts is that Honda went with an electronically assisted steering setup. I've never driven an electric setup that offered the 'right feel'. Then again that may be a personal preference and not one thats shared with a majority...
Some don't like them as they fail to provide real feedback as you would get in a traditional setup, it just feels fake. Traditional setups were simple and gave you real feedback.
Sounds like its mostly personal preference, not like one is actually better than the other. I can understand how in performance oriented vehicles particularly, people might prefer the traditional setup. Younger people probably don't care so much though.
No thats incorrect, one is better then the other. In fact they both are...
Electric systems offer better power 'efficiency' as the hydraulic power steering pump isn't run off the crank. But hydro systems offer a better road feel because they're heavier and mechanical...
So yes they're both better then each other depending on what your goal is...
I've heard they've been having nightmares with it, like no steering feel whatso ever or even locking. But the Infiniti is a steer by wire, which is more then electronically assisted...
Back to the CTR, does anyone know if its still using the torsion bar rear end of the Euro hatch/Fit?
I think a lot of the steer by wire, electronically assisted, blah blah, is up to personal preference. I have heard both great and terrible things about the Q50's system. I just need to try it for myself to figure out if its good or not.
Everything is building twoards self driving. All of those safety features that stop you from crashing or tell you when you are lane drifting. Its all part of the plan.
They just throw you bits of the tech that's been well developed and fit for use on public roads.
Soon enough we should see vehicles that will navigate through and park themselves in a parkade.
thing you have to consider is that were comparing the 9th gen CTR with the new RS... when the CTR comes to the US its going to be a totally different car.. AWD more then likely...
Good point but for now what we have to go off of should provide as a good reference point till we have more to go off of for an even better and direct comparison.
Overall the Focus will win, we haven't got it in a long time or for some, ever. Also as it stands the Focus RS is a more attractive package than the CTR. The 10th generation Type R will be better for that poll when the time comes.
It being released sooner will give it a bit of an upper hand since some folks won't want to wait.
But there will be those Honda loyalists that will wait years and hold onto their current ride just to get the 10th generation type r and I can't blame them.
