Explaining why the Twinster makes RS 'DRIFT'

2335 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  Focus RS News

GKN's VP of Global Product Technology, Dr Ray Kuczera, explains just how the Twinster rear differential induces controlled drifts on the Focus RS.

Using what GKN calls Ratio Offset Torque Vectoring (ROTV) the AWD system is able to overspeed the rear wheels in relation to the front wheels which in turn rotates the car, back end first.

ROTV and the Twinster is how Ford was able to remove understeer from a FWD based vehicle.

If you're looking for more details check out the writeup on the Twinster we published a few weeks ago.
