2016 Focus RS In Hot Hatch Mega Test

We’ve compared the Focus RS to other cars in the segment; Golf R, STI, Civic Type R, etc. Well now, Auto trader has performed the granddaddy of all hatchback tests and it is 35 minutes and 58 seconds well spent.

The Focus RS went up against 9 of its main rivals in a 10 way competition at the Anglesey circuit in North Wales. Each vehicle will go through a series of dynamic tests but, the most important factor in their decision will be how much fun they are to drive.

In the lineup is Ford’s new Focus RS, Honda Civic Type-R, Audi RS3, Mercedes-AMG A45, Volkswagen Golf R, Renault Sport Megane 275 Cup-S, Peugeot 308 GTI By Peugeot Sport 270, BMW 135i and Subaru Impreza WRX STI. First, the list will be cut down from 10 vehicles to three and then one of the finalists will be crowned Britain’s best hot hatch.

2016 Hot Hatch Stats Comparison

First cut will be made after a series of track tests, then the three finalists will be put through a series of tests including a road trip through the North West. We wouldn’t want to give everything away so we’re only showing you the contenders, their statistics and how they performed on the track.

Thanks for posting this.

Well worth watching, the winner was not the car I thought would win.
I like the A45 and if I had the extra cash would definitely be getting one of them over any of those other hatches. But then again there is no denying the bargain that the Focus RS is! Was a well done review too.
If only the A45 didn't cost and extra 10k compared to the Focus RS and it has the AMG badge. But, for people like me who can't afford one there's the full package with the Focus RS.
First test I've seen where the Claimed 0-62 is faster than the Tested 0-62....interesting.
Is that not the norm with factory claimed 0-62 times? I assume manufacturers get that time with professional drivers behind the wheels while test times are from the average track driver. The 0-60 time is more of a potential you can hit instead of what you will actually get.
That's always it. It's the potential. In ideal conditions, with the utmost best of the variables present. And of course a professional driver.
Some people may think the Mercedes-AMG A45 should have won but it costs an arm and a leg once you add on the options you want and insurance is going to cost more too. Over time, that extra bit of power may not be worth the actual cost.

This comparison is also great for those who couldn't get their hands on a Focus RS.
Can't forget to add maintenance on top of that as well
