That's funny since I thought they'd steamline the whole thing and just give the same things to all markets, just doing the typical smaller changes from market to market... like RHD over LHD.
I'm also surprised at the differences. Seems like it should be pretty much the same. I wonder if there are significant differences in what UK people expect from their hot hatches or something like that.
Seems like looking into other vehicles they get from other car makers and even from Ford could shed some light on this. Could just be a case of Ford wanting to continue to give them the things they're used to.
Took a look myself and the UK buyers have a few more trim options than those in the US. They have "Standard RS Recaro seat - Blue Bolsters" to better match a blue exterior and they have an extra black paint option. Probably a few more too that I didn't see. Stinks that we're missing out on them.
Throughout the years in future year models they might even continue to get more or different things than we're getting. Any guesses to what more we will see?
It just perplexes me why the UK would get this when NA doesn't. If anything I would expect the opposite. NA is bigger market, why not give them more options.
With them being the long standing market for this product, might as well give them that range of things to have, something that when noticed can take on a global effect especially with a global model.
I knew that these vehicles were popular in the UK but I didn't think of it as the biggest market. Do you think that they are popular there because they are both fast and compact? Americans tend to like bigger vehicles.
Your explanation probably hit the nail on the head. Their regulations are also different so it's easier for them to get more goodies than us.
I think we're not getting the shell RS seats because they don't have side impact airbags and the NHTSA standards are preventing them from coming to the US.
It's a combination of both I'd say, they have a bigger market and different regulations.

Might as well go all out and get the RS2 package, I hate the thought of spending as much as we are about to on the RS to then not go with a package like the RS2.
