File this one away under HMMM. Is Ford working on a hopped up version of the friendly family sedan? Looks like it, yes...
Camouflage obscures the front and rear fascia hinting at an updated, more aggressive scowl. Poking out the back undisguised however are a set of quad tips indicating some kind of added zest under the hood.
Leading speculation has the Fusion ST making use of the same 2.3L Ecoboost 4 cylinder in the Focus RS. There's also chatter that the new 2.7L Ecoboost V6 from the F-150 could possibly be shoehorned in.
The mule seems to be sporting meaty 19's, with larger rotors and callipers filling the empty space. Regardless it's widely believed that the Fusion ST will feature AWD standard, no word however if this could be the same GKN developed system under the RS.
Word has it the hot Fusion could show up with the mid-cycle facelift early in 2016...
YEa even when it comes to the AWD system, Im not sure they're going to use the GKN system from the RS... Fusion and edge are both available with AWD, no mess adapting, just plug and play the 2.7 with the stock AWD and call it an evening... add a manual to keep people calm...
More importantly it's what will pull people away from other brands and to the ford performance line up, so in that it's a win, at least at the end of the day their chances of buying a ford is that much greater.
