How many of you are planning to upgrade to the 235/35 R19 91Y Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 Summer Track Tire package?

It will make price jump by $1,990

Friend of mine had a set of PS2's on his M5, got less then 20K out of the rears... They are fantastic in dry and sunny conditions, but as mentioned above the PS2's don't really like anything not dry and sunny...

Look you won't crash immediately if you're out near the 0 degree mark (they really do get ROCK hard) or out in the rain, but they will require a bit more attention. Although nannies will help keep you from spinning up to bad in say cold/rainy conditions.

And thats not even mentioning the replacement costs of the Super Sports vs the Sport Cup 2's...

First of all, the price only jumps that much if you put on the forged wheels. It's not the tires that cost that much more alone, that upgrade is only around $500.

Here is something to consider, the tire is the only thing that connects the car to the ground. Every driving input from, steering, braking and acceleration are all transmitted though the tires. You are spending close to $50K to get an ultra high performance car, why bother getting this car if you are gonna cheap out on the tires? It just means you won't be able to get the performance you are paying for, to the ground.

Yes, the PS2's will wear out faster than the Supersports but, in order to achieve that kind of stickiness they need to.

The forged wheels are also well worth the money because, any good aftermarket forged wheel would cost you at least that. They also reduce unsprung weight, which is way more valuable than sprung weight in terms of performance and efficiency.

This option is a no brainer. The only reason you don't take this option, is if you plan on buying the car strictly for show. Otherwise, some of the best money you can spend on a factory upgrade.
